Guides to UAE household bills

Last checked

Quick answer

Rasid's guides explain UAE household bills in plain language: why a DEWA bill goes up, and how Dubai district cooling bills are charged. Every fact links to the provider's or regulator's own page, with the date it was checked. Rasid is a separate app that tracks your bills and reminds you before they're due; it does not pay them.

Electricity and water

Why is my DEWA bill so high?

Eight common reasons, from summer cooling and DEWA's slab tariff to the monthly fuel surcharge, the housing fee and a carried-over balance, and how to ask DEWA to check your meter. DEWA's October 2026 fuel surcharge is 6 fils per kWh and AED 1.10 per m³ (DEWA, Slab Tariff).

District cooling

District cooling charges in Dubai, explained

What the capacity and consumption charges mean, why you pay even when the AC is off, and which fees Dubai's Regulation and Supervision Bureau caps for homes, for example AED 30 a month for billing services (RSB Dubai, RD10).

Bill pages by provider

For how to check and pay each bill, see UAE bills: DEWA, SEWA, ADDC (TAQA Distribution), du, Etisalat by e& and Empower.

How we write these guides

  • Every fact about a provider comes from that provider's own website or a UAE government page, linked next to the fact, with the date we checked it.
  • Where we could not confirm something, we leave it out rather than guess.
  • Prices and tariffs change, so each guide shows when it was last checked.

Where Rasid fits

Rasid is an app that keeps household bills and subscriptions in one place. It can find the bills your providers email you, with read-only Gmail access, or you can add them by hand. For a bill with a due date, it reminds you three days before, at 10:00, and it shows how each bill compares with the last. Rasid does not pay bills, and it is not affiliated with any provider these guides cover.

FAQ

Why is my DEWA bill higher this month?

The usual reasons are summer air conditioning, use that crosses into a higher DEWA slab, a change in the monthly fuel surcharge, or a balance carried over from last month. Our DEWA guide goes through all eight.

What are chiller charges?

Chiller charges is a common name for district cooling bills. In Dubai they usually combine a fixed capacity charge for the cooling allocated to your home and a consumption charge for what your meter records.

Are the figures in these guides official?

Each figure comes from the provider's or regulator's own page, linked next to it, with the date it was checked. Your own bill and the provider's current page are what apply to you.

Does Rasid pay my bills?

No. Rasid reminds you before each bill is due and shows how it compares with earlier ones. You pay each provider through its own channels.
