Your DEWA bill: how to check it, pay it and read it

Quick answer

To check your DEWA bill, open DEWA's View Bill page and enter your account or premise number. You can pay through the DEWA Smart App, DEWA's website, EasyPay, Dubai Now, banks and other channels DEWA lists. DEWA gives 14 days from the bill to pay. Rasid, a separate app, can remind you three days before.

How to check your DEWA bill

  • Without logging in: DEWA's View Bill service asks for your account or premise number (DEWA, View Bill).
  • By email: DEWA emails a monthly bill, which it calls the Green Bill. If yours does not arrive, DEWA says your email and mobile number are probably not up to date with it (DEWA, Consumer FAQs).
  • By phone: DEWA's customer care line, 04 601 9999, handles enquiries about outstanding bills and last payments, and can email you a copy of your bill. It runs 24/7 (DEWA, Customer Care Centre Services).
  • Older bills: once you have moved out, you can still view the old premises' billing history in your online profile for up to 12 months after the final bill (DEWA, Bill Payment).

Your account number is on every bill. DEWA calls it the Contract Account number and asks you to use it in all correspondence (DEWA, Bill Explanation).

How to pay your DEWA bill

DEWA lists these payment channels: the DEWA Smart App, DEWA's website, the Empay UAE app, Dubai Now, EasyPay, Auto Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Etisalat, Tayseer (for several accounts), banks, ENOC and EPPCO petrol stations, and cash or cheque deposit machines at Emirates NBD and Emirates Islamic (DEWA, Bill Payment Channels). DEWA says the bill payment service itself is free (DEWA, Bill Payment).

To pay on DEWA's website or app (DEWA, Bill Payment):

  1. Log in with UAE PASS or your DEWA ID.
  2. Open the Bill Payment service and select the account.
  3. Confirm or edit the amount.
  4. Pay by credit or debit card, Noqodi, net banking, Samsung Pay or Apple Pay.

With EasyPay you enter your EasyPay number and press Enquire, check the amount, then log in with UAE PASS or your DEWA ID to pay. In Dubai Now you log in through UAE PASS, choose Bills, then DEWA Bill (DEWA, Bill Payment). DEWA emails a receipt to your registered address after payment.

You can also pay a friend's or relative's DEWA bill, in part or in full, with their contract account number (DEWA, Bill Payment).

What's on a DEWA bill

DEWA's bill guide lists these lines (DEWA, Bill Explanation):

  • Electricity and water for the period, with the period of consumption shown at the top.
  • Housing fee: 5% of the annual rent, split into 12 monthly instalments.
  • Sewerage: worked out from your water consumption.
  • District cooling, on some bills, at the rate provided by Nakheel.
  • Other services, detailed on the last page.
  • Previous bill balance, adjustments and payments received, which together with this month's charges make the total amount due.
  • The bill payment due date, by which the total amount due must be settled.

The housing, sewerage and irrigation fees are collected by DEWA on behalf of Dubai Municipality. DEWA adds 5% VAT to its consumption charges, but not to these municipality fees (DEWA, Consumer FAQs).

Since the March 2025 billing cycle, DEWA bills water in cubic metres (m³) instead of imperial gallons. One cubic metre is 219.9692 gallons (DEWA, Consumer FAQs).

DEWA tariff and fuel surcharge (October 2026)

DEWA charges a slab tariff: the price per unit rises as your monthly use rises (DEWA, Slab Tariff).

Electricity, residential and commercial
Monthly useRate
0 to 2,000 kWh23 fils per kWh
2,001 to 4,000 kWh28 fils per kWh
4,001 to 6,000 kWh32 fils per kWh
6,001 kWh and above38 fils per kWh
Water, residential
Monthly useRate
0 to 27 m³AED 7.70 per m³
27 to 54 m³AED 8.80 per m³
54 m³ and aboveAED 10.12 per m³

Fuel surcharge, October 2026: 6 fils per kWh of electricity and AED 1.10 per m³ of water. DEWA adds it to the monthly bill, and it moves up or down with the price of fuel supplied to DEWA's plants. DEWA also charges a meter service charge that depends on the meter type, and 5% VAT applies to these tariffs (DEWA, Slab Tariff).

DEWA's Tariff Calculator works out a bill from your kWh and m³ (DEWA, Tariff Calculator).

When is a DEWA bill due

DEWA issues the bill on your account's billing cycle, with a due date that gives you 14 days to pay. The due date is printed on the bill (DEWA, Consumer FAQs).

If a bill goes unpaid:

  • DEWA sends 3 reminders, to your registered email and mobile, before any disconnection.
  • Any underpayment is carried into the next bill as previous balance.
  • To reconnect, you pay the full outstanding amount plus a reconnection charge of AED 100. Most reconnections happen within 4 hours of payment.

Why your DEWA bill went up

  • Summer cooling. DEWA says air conditioning is one of the largest parts of household electricity use, especially in summer, and suggests 24°C with the thermostat on auto (DEWA, Electricity Tips).
  • A higher slab. The price per unit rises as your monthly use rises, so a heavy month costs more per kWh (DEWA, Slab Tariff).
  • The fuel surcharge changed. DEWA shows the rate for the current month, and it moves with the price of fuel (DEWA, Slab Tariff).
  • A balance carried over from a bill that was not paid in full (DEWA, Bill Payment).
  • A possible leak. Customers with smart water meters get DEWA's High Water Usage Alert when use is higher than normal (DEWA, Consumer FAQs).

If the reading still looks wrong, DEWA's Consumption Verification service offers a self-diagnosis, a call with a DEWA agent, or a site visit. The first two are free. The visit costs AED 175 or AED 500, depending on the meter, if the meter turns out not to be faulty (DEWA, Consumer FAQs).

Get a reminder before your DEWA bill is due

Rasid is an app that keeps household bills and subscriptions in one place. For DEWA it can:

  • Track the bill. Add DEWA by hand from Rasid's list of UAE providers, or connect Gmail with read-only access. Rasid then looks for the bills DEWA emails you and reads the amount and, when the email shows it, the due date.
  • Remind you before it's due. For a bill with a due date, Rasid sends a reminder three days before, at 10:00.
  • Show what changed. Once Rasid has more than one DEWA bill, the bill's screen shows recent bills side by side, the average, and how much more or less this bill is than the last.
  • Send you to DEWA to pay. If the payment link in a DEWA email can be confirmed as DEWA's own, the bill shows a Pay button that opens DEWA's page. You can also mark the bill as paid.

Rasid does not pay bills. You pay DEWA directly, through DEWA's own channels. Rasid's Gmail access is read-only, so it cannot send, delete or change your email.
