How to keep your bills and subscriptions in one place

Last checked

Quick answer

Household bills in the UAE arrive on different days, from different providers, in different emails, and subscriptions renew on their own dates. To keep them in one place, list every bill and subscription once with its amount, due date or renewal date and who you pay, then get a reminder before each. A spreadsheet works if you update it every month. Rasid does it from your billing email with no bank login: utility bills, rent cheques, instalment plans and subscriptions in one list, with a reminder three days before each is due.

Why it's hard to keep track

Every provider has its own calendar:

Why it's hard to keep track
BillWhen it comes and when it's dueSource
DEWADue 14 days from the bill; the date is printed on itDEWA, Consumer FAQs
Etisalat by e&Issued on the 1st, emailed within the first three days; pay before the 15the&, Billing FAQ
duGenerated about eight days after your bill cycle date and emailed; autopay takes it 15 days after the bill datedu, When and where can I get my bill?; du, Ways to Pay
SubscriptionsOn each one's own renewal date, monthly or yearlyEach provider's receipt

Add rent paid by post-dated cheques, a card statement or two, and a pay-later plan, and the list runs to a dozen dates a month. Each lives in a different inbox thread or app.

Four ways to manage multiple bills

1. A spreadsheet

List each bill and subscription with its amount, due date and how you pay. It costs nothing and you control it, but it is only as current as your last update. See spreadsheet or app for the trade-offs.

2. Each provider's own app

The DEWA, du and e& apps show and pay their own bills, and can set up autopay. You need one app per provider, and none of them shows your subscriptions.

3. A payment app that pays many bills

e& money, DubaiNow, TAMM, Payit and bank apps pay bills from several providers in one place. Their pages are about paying bills; of them, TAMM and e& money say they notify you about bills that are due. Compared in the best bill manager apps in the UAE.

4. A tracker that reads your billing email

Rasid finds bills and subscriptions in Gmail, read-only, and keeps them in one list with a reminder before each. You still pay each provider where you like.

A one-place routine that works

  1. Gather the last month's bills and receipts. Your email holds most of them. Search for each provider's name, or for "invoice", "receipt" and "statement".
  2. Write each one down once: name, amount, due or renewal date, how often, and how you pay.
  3. Put the next 7 days at the top. What's due this week is what needs attention.
  4. Set a reminder a few days before each due date.
  5. Compare each new bill with the last. A jump shows up early. For why, see why a DEWA bill is high, why a du bill increases and Etisalat (e&) price changes.

How Rasid keeps it in one place

  • Utility and telecom bills. With read-only Gmail access, Rasid reads bills from DEWA, SEWA, TAQA Distribution, Empower, du and Etisalat (e&) and others from their emails, or you add any bill by hand.
  • What's due this week, first. The Bills tab opens on a card with the bills due in the next 7 days and their total, and what's due in the next 30 days.
  • Rent, with its cheques. Add the yearly rent and the number of cheques, or fill it from a photo or PDF of your tenancy contract or Ejari certificate. Rasid reminds you 7 days and 1 day before each cheque.
  • Instalment plans, from any source. Tabby, Tamara and other pay-later plans and bank instalment plans, from their emails, from a card statement or added by hand, become one plan with how many payments are left, and a reminder before each payment.
  • Card statements. Statements from seven UAE banks: the total due, the minimum due and the payment date.
  • Subscriptions too, with a reminder before each renewal and an alert when a provider emails a price rise.
  • Spaces. Keep Personal, Family and Work apart, so a work tool stays out of the household total.

Rasid does not pay bills and never asks for a bank login. Where a bill email's payment link can be confirmed as the provider's own, Rasid opens that page so you can pay there. How Rasid handles your data is on the security page.

FAQ

What is the best way to track utility bills and subscriptions together?

Keep one list with every bill and subscription, its amount and its due or renewal date, and a reminder before each. A spreadsheet works if you update it monthly. Rasid builds the list from your billing email, read-only, and reminds you three days before each due date.

I keep losing track of my bills and subscriptions. Where do I start?

Start with your email. Most providers email each bill and receipt, so a search for each provider's name, or for "invoice" and "receipt", gives you most of the list. Write each one down once with its due date, then set reminders.

Can one app show DEWA, du, e& and my subscriptions together?

Rasid reads DEWA, SEWA, TAQA Distribution, Empower, du and Etisalat (e&) bills from their emails and keeps them next to your subscriptions, rent cheques and instalment plans. It reminds you before each is due. It does not pay them.

Do I need to give an app my bank login to track bills?

No. Rasid works from billing email with read-only Gmail access, from statements, spreadsheets and screenshots you import, and from what you add by hand. It never asks for a bank login, card number or OTP.

Can I track rent cheques and instalments with my bills?

Yes. In Rasid, rent is a bill with its cheques, and each instalment plan shows how many payments are left. Rasid reminds you 7 days and 1 day before each cheque, and before each instalment payment.
